**Catching up on Dec 17**

It’s a nice, light wooden keychain and the jumping dolphins make me smile.  I think this was a gift from Chad, given to me years ago after his vacation to Hawaii.  It’s been in the small zipper pocket of my dopp kit since then.  For a brief spell I kept the key to my luggage lock on this keychain.  But I don’t use that luggage anymore so the keychain has been empty and surrounded by sticky cough drops and cotton swabs.

This was a giveaway during pre-season, back when hope was high and the sky was the limit for this year’s team.  And then we imploded again.

I’m still amped for a possible playoff run, but it’s looking like we have a slim chance of making it.

Say what you will about the validity of this “thing”, but I’ve had this since college (graduated in 1997).  I still love it, but there is a small crack along the side of the bowl, and the lid never quite closed properly.  And without the assistance of a rubber band I ran a great risk of loosing whatever was inside.

I can’t begin to describe my displeasure with the NY Jets organization.  Such a sham(e).

I’ve had this hat since the 90’s, but it doesn’t sit well on my head.  I’m not buying a new one either.

I’m writing this post on December 16th, catching up from a busy month.  On Friday the 14th there was a mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT.  20 children died and six adults.  What a horrific situation.  As a father of 2 beautiful children under the age of 6, this news devastated me. It would have hit hard regardless, but this was an elementary school less than an hour away from where I live.  And these were young children around Anabelle’s age.

My prayers for peace and solace go out to the families and friends of the victims.  Nothing will ever return the children to their parents but I hope that if enough of us honor their memories, they can somehow live forever.

It’s too easy to obtain firearms in this country.  This has to stop.  Now.
